THE BRIEF
Capture photos for a 256 page book on Mudlarking.
THE DETAILS
There were two main types of photography needed for the book; shots of the ‘finds’ and shots of mudlarking itself.
For the shots of the finds, we wanted to avoid boring white background studio shots. Instead, we explored the River Thames beaches at low tide, collecting large bits of wood, old bits of metal and pieces of slate to use as backgrounds that would be in keeping with the items history. For the most significant finds, we also shot them on the foreshore of the Thames in order to create more natural feeling images of how the items might have been discovered.
In order to show the variety of landscapes in which mudlarking takes place, we scheduled session to cover Central London, the bleaker river landscape in Essex and also a night shoot to add a sense of mystery!
"Beautifully produced, photographic images beyond compare, quality text and finds. This book surpasses expectation."
