ABOUT "EDUCATION"
Two of Kweli's cubs watch on as their mother hunts in the early morning sun.
For once Kweli’s cubs are following their mothers command to stay behind so as not to ruin the hunt. Although not particularly subtle, their spot on top of the termite mound provides the perfect vantage point from which to observe and learn in preparation for their upcoming separation from their mother. At 13 months old, it is only a matter of months before they will be out on their own, fending for themselves.
I saw Kweli regularly during the month I spent photographing in the Maasai Mara. This photo was taken during a three day stint that I spent almost exclusively following Kweli and her cubs, aiming to capture a series of photographs that encapsulate the spirit of her dedication to her cubs.
